Odd one out....

Afternoon everyone. The Sock has prepared a little quizette for you just to sharpen your brains up in time for the weekend. Very simple all you need to do is match the gardener to the flower named after them and then spot the odd one out. The answers are given at the bottom but you must TRY first!!!!!

In case anyone is wondering the comments got deleted not because they were horrid but because they got the quiz wrong!! Only right answers or funny answers will be tolerated!

you can't have that one for M Handsome Wilson! There is a really proper Crocosmia named after him! Well, after Sir Matthew Wilson. I don't actually know who Sir Matthew Wilson was. The only trace Google can find of him is that his statue was removed from Skipton to make way for the cenotaph. Not that famous then.

I didn't realise Mazzer was a Sir!
That makes all the difference. I expect one of his ancestors disgraced himself by eating all the buns hence the removal of the statue. Handsome is as handsome does as Granny Sock used to say -- never quite understood what that meant. Actually, I didn't understand when she said "you're no better than you ought to be" either.

Did you know that there is a fuchsia, a clematis AND a gladiolus all called 'Arabella'?

I don't suppose you look like Dame Edna Everage, do you?

The Black Finger Nail said...

I'll have you know that Arabella in reality looks more like the early 1970's kids TV character Crystalmeths (& Alistair) and nothing like Dame Edna.

Alys on the other hand attends the same optician as the Dame.....

You are all TOO cruel. I love it!

emmat said...

yes but when i saw Alys in real life at Chelsea I suddenly realised she is actually really really beautiful which is not at all captured by the camera. I can't comment on whether Arabella is really really beautiful in real life because she's a sock.

Interestingly, it is just a short drive from Skipton to Harlow Carr; if you go via Kettlesing bottom and then BLUBBERHOUSES! I think that might contain some sort of secret message re overdoing it in tea rooms?

Arabella Sock said...

You have all been terribly cruel.
The Sock said spot the odd one out which was of course Joe who DOESN'T have a turnip named after him.

Blubberhouses!! Ha ha ha!

Forgot to say - when I mentioned to the Bedsock that Chris Beardshaw had a rose named after him he asked "Is it a dwarf variety?". Methinks he is a very jealous Bedsock indeed!

Where's the photo of Peter Gibbs when you need it eh?

'A blog administrator'?

Sounds like you're frightfully posh and employ your own staff.

The sock may not have staff, but she most certainly has minions

Out of all those flowers Dahlia Charlie Dimmock would win the "Like Flower, Like Celebrity" section, though I think the Monty sweet pea is also good if you allowed more metaphorical resemblances.

Fat Rascal said...

The turnip was the only one I got right, despite the very obvious clue of CB holding his eponymous rose!

How long before they become a planting scheme at Berryfields?

Oh dear Arabella, has the nasty Troll found you? Why can't he trip trip trap back to his bridge? He is plainly jealous of your incomparable wit and wisdom.

Hello Ork

Everyone is always curious about deleted posts. Some of them were really quite funny but just not the direction the Sock wants the blog to go in.
