Tee hee!

Am I the only one who finds that beetroot on the side there slightly alarming?

Now all is explained.

There has been a disturbance in the Space Time Continuum and the van is a Time Phenomenon which actually belongs to some period far back in all our childhoods when Mivvis were a treat. It has influenced everyone in the GW team and they are all regressing...

Raspberry mivvis are/were my favourite. Where I lived the ice cream van used to drive down onto the beach so you could buy a 99 or whatever from there and then immediately get gritty sand blown all over it. Another incredibly interesting Sockfact is that if I have a choc ice at the cinema I will be absolutely guaranteed to come out with bits of chocolate melted all over my clothes even though I am always very careful.

That happens to me, too, and I don't even need to be in a cinema. Sigh.

I have to be Anonymous, by the way, because Google doesn't like any of the name/passwords I have given it. Perhaps I'll adopt it as my name.

Do ice cream vans still come round the streets? I haven't seen one for a long time. Maybe they have all been converted into seed vans?!

Bloody Buckland!

I annoy SomeBeans when I bite the bottom off a cornet/cornetto and suck the ice-cream through the cornet. He says I'm uncouth.

Sorry Arabella - we seem to have hijacked your post and turned it into a frozen dairy product-based reminiscence thread.

Ha ha! I don't mind what everyone chats about. Ice cream vans do still come around, Ryan. Last year I blogged about the one that does my area because the noise of it playing Teddy Bear's picnic constantly was driving me insane! It has started up again recently and you can hear the music tinkling away in the distance, getting closer and closer as it goes up and down the nearby terraced streets. The noise actually sets my nerves on edge and makes me feel sick! This may seem very odd but my brother told me that he can't bear the noise from the ice cream van where he lives. Perhaps we both have some sub-conscious memory of being frightened by Mr. Whippy when we were children! LOL!

PS. It might be uncouth to bite the bottom off a cornet and suck the ice cream through but it is definitely fun. Even better if it is a chocolate lined cornet! Yum! Did I tell you I'm going to Italy shortly? I'm going to eat lots of ice cream (pistachio is one of my favourites) and I will be sure to suck it because it annoys the Bedsock as well.

Nice to know VP and I think alike - I was just loading up the comments page to mention the beetroot. It is a bit... from a certain angle..!

Thanks New Shoot - everyone going off on lolly and cornet shaped memories was beginning to make me think it was just me!

There's a fantastic ice cream shop in Beddgelert if people can't make it to Italy, well worth the detour to North wales!

We get ice cream vans - about three times a day at the moment - and the noise drives me insane too.

Does anyone watch Bones? In one episode Booth (FBI man, for those who don't) is so irritated by an ice cream van blaring out music while he's trying to make a phonecall he gets out his gun and shoots the clown-shaped loudspeaker on top of the van. And then people say he over-reacted! - it seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

As does biting the bottom off a cornet in order to suck the ice cream through - is there any other way to eat it?

VP said...

Yes there is Juliet. Pushing the ice cream down the cone as far as it will go and trying to eat all the cone away around it, so you're just left with the ice cream.

I know that sounds weird, but I don't really like the cone bit.

Forgot to say New Shoot - nice to see you, I'd been wondering where you were...

I love raspberry Mivvis. They are far superior to strawberry ones. As for choc ices, I never eat them because of the clothes thing. Perhaps we were separated at birth?

Sorry VP and New Shoot - I was off in a fugue of icecreamness and forgot to look at the beetroot.

Eugh - enough to put anyone off their raspberry ripple!

Our very popular ice cream man died recently.

There were hundreds and thousands at his funeral.

What is wrong with you all?
You, should you be priviledged enough to have a cornet, eat it slowly, so some melts right down to the bottom third, and then you give that bit to your lovely dog.
Either that or you buy him a little one of his own.
I thought everyone knew that!

VP - I obviously wasn't very clear about my ice cream eating, because the way you describe eating them is exactly the way I do it, except that I suck the ice cream through the bottom of the cone as well as pushing it down. I don't like cones much either.

Wv is catem - why is it always something to do with cats on this blog?
